Robin gives friends a yummy snack

“ He still has the same willingness to spread about the power in a Make-A-Wish® experience. ”

Season of Wishes

Robin is five years old – and already faces more hardship than most people can understand.

He gets a frequent respite from his medical challenges, though. Every time the ice cream man visits, Robin feels a joy that can’t be beat.

But something tugs at him. Robin knows that some of the kids in his neighborhood don’t have money for ice cream.

Robin has visitors one day … Make-A-Wish® volunteers. They offer to grant his truest wish. And they reel in shock. Robin asks them to grant a wish that is the essence of all that’s good and selfless. He asks to be the boss of the ice cream man so he can give ice cream to every other kid in his neighborhood.

That’s just Robin being Robin.

Robin remembers every detail of his wish … and he wouldn’t change a thing.

He remembers being away from his family for his treatment – just he and his mother, most of the time. The day Robin’s wish came true, he saw everyone again.

“I can always look back and remember them all being there,” Robin says.

The impact of Robin’s Make-A-Wish experience lives on today. His mother, Cheryl, is a board member at Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana. Robin? He still has the same giving nature and willingness to spread the word of what a Make-A-Wish experience can do.

Robin, what a special boy you are! There were many times when I was a child that the ice cream man came around, and I would hope somebody would have money for me. Good for you for making that happen for kids! You are very special! We are so glad you are here, and were born! You make this world a better place!

I wish there were more people in the world like you. So many people (adults included) would have made a wish for themselves...and there is nothing wrong with that. You are an outstanding young man and every time I eat a Popsicle I will think of you!

You're so sweet to do that. A lot of people in my apartment and I think that you did a good thing by giving your friends free ice cream. I wish I could do that, and you're only 5! That's really cool.

What a wonderful story from a true Little American Hero. He should be an example to us all. I will pray for a miracle for this little hero may God Bless him and his family.

This is my favorite wish story ever. That he wanted to be the boss of the ice cream man so he could give ice cream away to the other kids in the neighborhood who didn't have money for ice cream is so telling of what a special kid he is. I volunteer with MAW and I tell this story often as I think it is just one of the greatest Wish stories ever. I was so happy to see this video and see he is doing well :-)
