Jordan's lawnmower

Jordan's lawnmower wish

“ ... his work is a gift to his community ... ”

The rumble of the lawnmower fades. The scent of grass fills the air as Jordan stands up, inspects his work and smiles.

Don’t get the idea that caring for lawns is a chore for Jordan. The mower he rides and all the equipment he uses come from his Make-A-Wish® experience. Jordan’s one true wish was to have lawn-care equipment so he could care for the yards of his elderly neighbors. Jordan's lawnmower wish

Kindness is Key to Jordan’s Vision

Consider Jordan’s situation, and you realize the depth of his kindness. He’s on a kidney transplant list, yet while he receives treatment for end-stage renal disease he’s thinking about helping others. Somehow, Jordan sees a bigger picture.

And it includes him … doing good for others.

People in the community pitched in to make Jordan’s wish come true. A local lawn-care equipment business outfitted him with a riding mower, a blower, a generator and other tools he needed to landscape like the pros.

Friends and neighbors unveiled the landscaping gear to Jordan. Since that day, the state of the lawns in his neighborhood has never been better.

A Wish for the Future – and the Community

Every manicured lawn Jordan cares for prepares him for his future. He plans to have his own landscaping business. But for now, his work is a gift to his community – for others who aren’t able to do the hard work that keeps a yard in top condition.

Dear Jordan, Bless you for your thoughtfulness. It reminds me of Marcel Proust's words: Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Warmest regards from Make-A-Wish Switzerland!

Jordan, you are an inspiration. And going above and beyond the call of duty. For all that you are going through, you are still thinking of others. And that is inspiring. I wish others your age had the same care you do for others! :-) I wish you good luck in getting your kidney transplant, and a very happy, long life!

Jordan, Thank you for helping us know what being an American is all about. I have had my challenges with depression, hiv, and gender dysforia. You inspire others by living and walking in your truth. We love you and believe in you. Life is a journey.

It is amazing how many of these Wish Kids use their wish for the good of others. Our daughter was the same, despite her illness she always was more concerned with the well being and treatment of others......Bless you Jordan
